the 10th edition of The Underground Music Showcase arrives on Broadway 22 through 25 July with a packed schedule including 300 bands at 25 venues, trivia, burlesque and "a party like no other" (to quote the website); many Baker residents will be attending, some will be volunteering, and several will be performing

past festivals have gone fairly well from residents' perspectives, but this being the largest ever and with residents recently feeling the impact of a crackdown on parking at the Security Service Credit Union lot, we contacted Ricardo Baca, Executive Director of the UMS to see how the festival planned to keep things under control; he responded warmly and with the good news that The UMS has "worked with the credit union and a couple other partners [...] to work out a better parking plan than in years past", plus police officers and private security will be working the show

those with concerns during the show are urged to take them directly to the box office -- on Thursday that will be in the parking lot next to Hi-Dive (7 S. Broadway) opening at 5:30 p.m.; Friday through Sunday, the box office will be on Archer Place in the parking lot behind the Goodwill Store (21 S. Broadway) opening at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (of course if you see someone drunk about to drive a car just call the police and save a life)

so enjoy the show or enjoy your peace and quiet -- with luck both options will be viable -- and post your pictures or comments about The UMS here on BakerNow
