on the evening of Wednesday, 18 Jan., State Representative Mark Ferrandino with State Senators Pat Steadman and Irene Aguilar held a town hall meeting at Hirschfeld Towers, 333 W. Ellsworth (Ferrandino’s previous town hall meetings had been held at the Athmar Library); approximately 40 people attended

congratulations are due to Baker resident Ferrandino — he has been newly elected Minority Leader of the House; with a little wishful thinking it could be said that Baker has clout at the state house … in addition to Ferrandino’s position, Senator Steadman is a member of the important Joint Budget Committee

the town hall meeting started with a discussion of reapportionment changes in store for each of these representative’s districts starting with the 2013 session (more about this in an article to follow); the trio also reviewed topics in the just-started 2012 legislative session including bills they each have introduced; then a Q/A session covered everything from natural gas fracking to marijuana legalization, and before the room cleared people had time for informal sessions with each representative; Senator Aguilar has posted video of the meeting

according to Rep. Ferrandino, for the foreseeable future he will hold town hall meetings in the Hirschfeld community room on the third Wednesday of each month starting at 6 p.m.
