Divino Wine & Spirits

Divino Wine and Spirits is only a block and a half beyond the southern border of the Baker Neighborhood, but its owner, Dave Moore, is a neighborhood resident.

And, for April of 2011 Dave was selected as the Bike Denver Bike Hero. From the article:

Dave opened his super snazzy south-central Denver wine shop, Divino, (1240 S. Broadway) in 2003, and has been riding his bike to work from his home in Baker ever since. Dave humbly says his commute is only two miles each way

Updated landscaping at Brekenridge Brewery and Barbecue

This photo was from a while ago in the summer and the space looks much better now.

They forgot that the first step in laying down new landscaping is to kill all the weeds so the southernmost strip of streetlawn was full of bindweed. They've now fixed that with some rock, at least for a while...

Breckenridge Brewery releases 20th anniversary Buddha's Hand Witbier (wheat beer)

This just in from the @breckbrew twitter account:

In recognition of their 20th anniversary, Breckenridge Brewery will release the Buddha’s Hand Witbier in limited supply to Old Chicago restaurant locations in Colorado. The beer will be released to the public at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 4 at all Colorado Old Chicago locations during a special tapping party and will be available until September 4 or while supplies last. Buddha’s Hand witbier, is brewed in the Belgian tradition with an American twist. Cascade hops along with a grain bill of Two Row, White Wheat, Caramel 30, Carapils and Torified Wheat afford this ale its 5.5% ABV and 17 IBU’s. What makes the hazy ale so unique is the addition of the fragrant Buddha’s hand citron plant fruit. The tropical fruit is segmented into finger-like sections, resembling the hand of Buddha, and responsible for a crisp, refreshing and lightly citrusy flavor perfect for summer enjoyment.
